NANGUNGULILA SA PASKO

By Jarel Enriquez

Ang gabi ay masaya,

Puno ng pagmamahalan.

Inilawan ang sansinukuban,

Sa pagsilang ni Hesus sa sabsaban.

Ngunit, ako’y mag-iisa

Mag-iisang magdiriwang

Sapagkat kulang ang Pasko

Dahil wala ka sa tabi ko.

O, mahal ko.

Sana’y malaman mo.

Ngayong Pasko,

Ako’y nangungulila sa ‘yo.

Hanggang dito nalang ba?

Paskong-pasko’y walang sigla.

Sapagkat ika’y malayo,

Umiiyak ang aking puso.

Bagamat ganito ang nadarama,

Ako’y sumasamo’t walang sigla,

Sapagkat ika’y malayo.

Umiiyak ang aking puso.

Bagamat ganito ang nadarama,

Ako’y sumasamo’t umaasa,

Ika’y mahagkan at makapiling

Sa Paskong aking hinihiling.

BUS

by Jarel Enriquez

In my solace moment,

Lies a heart that was tormented,

Of a past which I can’t forget,

That I, somehow, considered surreal.

Was it fake?

I hope not.

Yet, I knew from the start,

That it can’t really be.

From the moment I met you,

Time ticks slow,

Every moment with you,

Means a lifetime for me.

Even though you might not saw,

The gladness that my heart knew,

I am still thankful

To YOU for adding color into my life.

The end is near and I must say bye bye.

It’s hard, really hard,

To see you sleep calmly,

Knowing that I wouldn’t be able,

To greet you each new morning

With my smile.

As we reached our final destination,

It was hard for me to look at you.

You’ve became part of my life

But the question lies…

Did I become an important someone in your life, too?

I’ve Got 20 Bad Manners, Unbelievable but it’s True.

November 15th, 2007 by jarenriquez

There are many bad manners that have been my habit when I was little up ‘til now. As far as I remember the first reason that I have in my mind right now is that, sometimes, I don’t ask excuses from two people who are having conversations. I usually touch them at their back in order to grab attention. Second, if I interrupted them, I never say ‘Sorry’. Maybe, because, I am in the process of self-humiliation. I just keep my mouth shut before I can talk to the person. Third, I am not that kind of a listener. For the simple reasons like I can’t figure out what they are saying to me or I am not in the mood of listening to their adventures, misfortunes, and the like. Fourth, I compete with what had others accomplished. If they would talk with their own accomplishment in life then I should also have my greatest accomplishments in life. I think the term that suits with this description is self-centered or ego-centered person. Fifth, I complain easily. Sixth, I am not hospitable to my relatives whenever they go to our house. I am not so close with my relatives both from the two sides. I usually do not entertain them. If they are in our house, I do the house chores to occupy the time. I give them food but never really talk to them that much. Another moment that I do is that I go to my room and sleep. I let my parents and my other siblings to entertain them. Seventh, my laziness comes once in a blue moon. If I feel that I’ve worked too hard for something, I try to rest and postpone all the activities that wait for me. For example, in the school, my classmates knew that I handle a club and all the activities along its way. When people pressure me to bring forth such activities like meeting, deadlines, or activities, I just stop and think that there will be another day. And let that activities be accomplished the other day.  Eight, I am a latecomer in meetings or group meetings. When the group agrees that we are going to meet on Saturday or Sundays at exactly 9:00 in the morning, I always come 30 minutes to 1 hour late. I tried to change the habit yet I can’t. The reason for that I suppose is that I am lazy waking up early. Before I go to school, my mother always remind me that I should clean the house so that my obligation during those weekends and even in weekdays will be done. I had sad experiences. Whenever my mother sees that the house is not clean, she makes her ‘litanya’ against me. When I didn’t clean the house and that I only enjoy my gimmick every time I went to school. So to avoid the harsh words she says to me, I clean the house before I go to school. Ninth, I am physical with friends. I noticed that I, sometimes, tap their shoulders with force. Luckily, they never complain or fight with me because they sometimes do that to me. Revenge is sweet. (Laughing Out Loud). Tenth, I am selective or I never mind in helping others. I don’t help mediocre persons either those talented ones. I am a self-supporting student. I support myself very much, sometimes, you can call it ‘makasarili’ but I do not care. Eleventh, I think I can be narcissist, sometimes. I can’t stop staring myself in the mirror. For me, I am the star in my world. I never gave a damn recognition with others because they have their own mirrors. They can be the stars of their each world if they wish, too. Twelfth, I always think of negative things upon doing any activities for a group or for myself, especially, if I lead some bunch of lazy teammates but not all. This had happen during our Summer Production Workshop. I was doubtful with the result because it was made out of discussions and negative forces by the different characters of our group. Thirteenth, I am a self-confess gossiper. I love gossips. (Laughing Out Loud). I think everyone in the class loves gossip. Fourteenth, I, with my friends, make negative comments of people passing in our way or just people we remember. Meron naman talagang mapupuna sa kanila so let it be. Malay ko na pinupuna rin ako nila. Quits na ‘yun. I know that what I do is bad but I just can resist the evil side of myself. Fifteenth, whenever I have personal problems or school problems, I am carried with my emotions up to the point that nadadamay na ang mga friends and classmates ko. I think of them as the reasons for my misery. Sixteenth, I remain grudges towards my mortal enemies. I condemned them for causing me so much emotional and mental pain. Seventeenth spot is that I am easily tormented by the situations I am into. I easily give up but I can also recovered easily. Eighteenth, I pressure others but I don’t want to pressure myself. Nineteenth, I wear fake smile to persons that I think too arrogant. This had happened many times with some officers I knew in other clubs of the school. Siguro na rin sa approach or dating nila for me that’s why smile lang kahit di naman totoo. Twenty, I am a snobbish person. I make snob to persons that I do not know. However, I also snob those people I knew because I just want to.

So far I’ve had twenty on my list. It’s hard to recall all the bad manners I have. I am running out of bad manners. (Laughing Out Loud).

a fast tell tale of my experience with CATW-AP and Sagada Camp…

November 5th, 2007 by jarenriquez

i’ve realized that being a graduate of 7th YMC, there are pressures
to spread the word and lessons of the camp. for me, spreading these
words is a great challenge. however, di ko talaga magawa dahil marami
kaming ginagawa sa school (promise). beating deadlines, quizzes,
exams, and pressure sa aming mga productions were one of the many
consideration. yet, hindi naman na delete sa mind ko yung mga
natutunan ko sa 7th YMC. after i received an invitation from ate yen
and ate jean na sasali ako sa TOT for the 8th YMC, i was really
thankful kasi it’s one way of seeing old friends grow more. TOT was
really a great opportunity to experience in flesh what is really
happening in the society, especially, with the victims of this
business. as far as i remember, sa TOT palang, feel na feel ng bawat
participants ang pressure to facilitate a camp. thus, we graduated
with lessons learned from the lectures to the actual simulation of
the process. for the third time, nadagdagan na naman yung pagka-
thankful ko sa CATW-AP kasi na-invite na naman ako to be one of the
student faci para sa Sagada Camp. it was a surprise but i was little
bit pressure kasi sila ate jean na yan. pero i was confident then at
one point because of the warm smile ate jean, ate yen, ate viola, ate
shalom, kuya gerald, and kuya joshua. the exodus (talagang exodus ang
ginamit na term, hehehe) was never easy. i didn’t really expected
that it would be 12-13 hours of staying in two different bus
papuntang Sagada. grabe, ganun talaga kalayo and it was a little bit
cold. in the bus papuntang baguio, nakikiramdam na kami ni chard/rica
sa mga participants. as i remember, nakiramdam kami una kay ron at
jay from UP. friendly naman ang approach nila. si ron silent mode sa
bus as far as i remember. si jay naman talkative and i think that
time friendly talaga. yung mga ANGELS ng camp(jerrence, emman,
melford, and joejit), for me, they had their own worlds. maybe,
because they came from one school. si marvin din naman mas talakative
pa pala kay jay. grabeh, we chatted in our seats about the
experiences we had in auditions(si marvin sa GMA at ako sa ABS-CBN).
so far so good naman ang conversation, and it made us (jonnel,
chard/rica, and me) assured that the 7 of them were nice. around 3:00
in the afternoon of October 19, nakatapak na talaga kami sa SAGADA.
kasabay nang hapon na yun ay ang acquaintance namin sa mga
participants ng northern luzon. for me, makikita na talaga na they
were raise in a patriarchal way. kitang-kita namin ni chard/rica and
jonnel, pati rin si jong, na mukhang mahihirapan kami. meron sila
talagang posture na parang hindi ma-momove nang kung ano. to know
them better, that night we went muna sa room ng mga participants ng
NCR and Angeles, and we had our first getting-to-know moment.
together with jonnel, we concluded that we won’t have problem in
dealing with them. moreover, the student faci’s did not make any
judgments with the participants, especially with the northern luzon
participants. for me, i treated them, sincerely, as new friends never
minding their background. first day of camp and the participants of
BONIFACIO were like stones. ang hirap nilang hilain isa-isa and it
was really a challenged for Ate Viola, Ate Shalom, and Kuya Joshua,
with chard/rica na hilain sila ng isa-isa. it was tough pero
pagdating ng Solidarity Night, they were participating naman and we
saw that they were starting to make friends with each other and
someh0w we were a little assured pa na everything will be fine. day 2
sa Sagada Camp, the discussions were more deep and the challenged for
the organizers were arising na. still, we were still positive in
spreading the experiences and the insights of the student facis to
the topics being discussed. medyo-medyo na ang timpla o ang result ng
2nd day. naging threat ito pagka-3rd day ng camp for the organizers
and student facilitators ang result. sabi talaga namin na i-todo na
natin ang personal experiences at sharing namin. it was pioneered by
chard/rica, next ako, and third si jonnel about the experience of the
homosexuals. sa gender sensitivity na issue sila natagalan pero sa
prostitution ay nahila namin sila. they’ve sincerely learned and
realized the important role of women especially they are bounded with
their culture, society, and how they were raised up. the north meets
the south ang naging outcome ng camp. sharing the experiences
straight from the horses’ mouth made them realized gays and lesbians
role in the society. they’ve said their sorry to rica, jonnel, and to
me. but for me, they should not be sorry kasi naman even though
naging ganun ang kanilang reaction towards us or me i never felt na
nabastos nila ako. nakakasabay naman din ako sa kanila because i knew
na ganun talaga sila pinalaki at minold ng society. day 3 was really
a success for the organizers and facis but most especially to the
participants. isang bagsak ng AHOO! AHOO! AHOO! day 3 ended na magaan
ang feeling ng lahat ng tao sa St. Joseph Inn. alam namin na it would
be hard leaving all of them kasi in a short time naging close na sila
sa amin. the HYPOTHERMIA experience in Sumaguing cave was also one of
the reasons why i will not forget the 8th YMC. it was my first time
to have cave adventure. and promise talaga nakakatakot at  muntik na
yung mga taga-UP miss na rin namin kasi they are really good chatters
(Kim, Ron, and Jay). kina Lawin, Jay-R at sa iba pa, sayang kasi
hindi ko kayo nakilala masyado but i know na you’ve changed not
automatically but slowly and learning each day makes you grow more as
a sensitive person. it’s really hard to say bye-bye sa inyo but i
believe, someday, we will meet and cross each other’s star in the
sky. eto pala email ad ko sa friendster: jarel_enriquez@yahoo.com at
username ko and email add sa multiply, respectively; jarelenriquez2
or jinxdawko@yahoo.com.

sa susunod muli ng pagbabahagi ko….. AJA!

I AM DYING!

September 29th, 2007 by jarenriquez

I am into 2 weeks of pressuring my self. I have so many things to pass this final’s week. I feel that I am tied and locked up with commitments that I pessimistically see now. I can’t concentrate. There’s many future activities that i wanted to. Today, I just want to leave all that commitments and live in a place where silence eats your very soul. I am bombarded with people who expects too much, who demands too much, and i think that is not a problem but it is really a challenge for me. These are only few of the many problems that I will face in the future. Right now, what can I do is to complain in silence. I want to shout. I want to be free. This is the worst academic problem that I have ever face.

Toni Gonzaga: UNO’s centerfold this January!

The witty, vibrant, and religious Toni Gonzaga will be UNO’s centerfold on its January issue.

Toni Gonzaga’s exotic and unique appeal to the people was the reasons why the company chose her. Diether Ocampo, UNO’s owner, said in an interview that they [management] had a hard time to convince Toni’s parents because of the sweet and wholesome image Toni portrays behind and in front of the camera.

The management promised the stage parents to make the pictorials and dresses to look more ‘safe’ and ‘comfy’ for the readers of the men magazine. As seen to its final product, it was as safe as the management promised. The pictorial was inspired in a Japanese theme.

BECOMING 23

Toni celebrated her 23rd birthday in ASAP ’07 last Sunday at Channel 2. Close friends made a comical skit in the various highlights and intrigues Toni had face during her 6 years in showbiz.

She’s 23 and she is now ready to let boys or maybe Sam Milby to be the center of her life now. Well, for us, just wait and what will happen next.

MOVIES

Toni, together with Zanjoe Marudo and Sam Milby, will have their valentine treat for all the people out there. They will make you love, laugh, and cry in Star Cinema’s valentine offering this Febrauary. But before that, let Vhong Navarro, Toni’s leading man in the hit film D’ ANOTHERS, will be having his sure fire hit this January. Agent X44 is now showing to almost 100 theaters nationwide.

HELLO PHILIPPINES and HELLO WORLD

Toni reassured her fans and to her critics that she won’t change her image. After seeing her in the recent Pinoy Dream Academy, she will accompany you this March for the grand launching of Pinoy Big Brother Season 2 wherein she was known of with this opening: ‘Hello Philippines and Hello world!’. As for now, you can catch her on ASAP ’07 and Wazz up, Wazz up.

NEW SHOWS FOR ABS-CBN & GMA

New shows for New Year. ABS-CBN will have their new primetime bida shows that will surely take the viewers attention more. Sana Maulit Muli did their pilot episode last
January 8 and it is being lead by the former Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Grand Winner Kim Chui and first runner-up Gerald Anderson. Also, Star Circle Quest Grand Winner Erich Gonzales and first runner-up Aron Villaflor, Tonton Gutierrez, Glydel Mercado, and Micky Ferriols were also cast in this different story. Rounin, which lead, by Diether Ocampo and Angelica Panganiban is an action series that will highlight special video effects and out oif this world portrayal of charcacters of today’s hottest young stars. Rounin is an action-drama that will make your world go loco and surprise us with new trend in terms of acting and special effects. Another in line for the Kapamilya’s out there is the radio hit in 70’s ‘Flor de Luna’. It’s a tearjerker drama series for ABS-CBN this time. Like the successful transition of radio drama Gulong ng Palad and Komiks based stories like Bituing Walang Ningnig to TV, ABS-CBN will surely bring you another top-notch drama that’s very true to its original script. With caliber director Jerry Lopez-Sineneng at the helm, Maria Flordeluna has a very powerful cast line-up that includes Vina Morales, Albert Martinez, Liza Lorena, Nash Aguas, Kristel Fulgar and Eula Valdez.

Eliza Pineda, a familiar kid on the small screen, will be playing the very charming Maria Flordeluna. Eliza is currenly appearing on hit comedy show Going Bulilit and has had plum roles on Bituin as the young Desiree Del Valle and on Maging Sino Ka Man as the young Bea Alonzo. She also played Piolo Pascual’s daughter in the Star Cinema blockbuster ‘Til There Was You. The young girl bested 1,300 kids who have auditioned for the role of Maria Flordeluna. When asked why she thinks she got chosen, her only reply was, "Siguro po mabilis po talaga kasi ako umiyak."

Meanwhile, GMA would never give up in giving new primetime telebabad (as they prefer to call it). Will add LUPIN and SUPER TWINS. Lupin is then lead by Richard Gutierrez, Katrina Halili and the rest of young actors and actresses in GMA 7. It was based in the Japanese Anime ‘Lupin’. The show incorporates action scenes and out of this world stunts. Richard Gutierrez plays a most wanted thief in the country and their chase towards treasures.

Super Twins, on the other hand, is lead by Starstruck Season 1’s products, Jennelyn Mercado and Nadine Samonte with the hot matinee idol Dennis Trillo. The story revolves around the twins and their journey towards saving the world to the evils around them. Their Kapuso audiences will see the 2 show in the second quarter of this year.

Another sure-fire highest raters, Asian Treasures is an engaging story involving the quest for hidden treasures that date back from the start of Philippine civilization. It is said that these treasures were gathered from different parts of Asia by 10 Bornean Datus who formed a city in a place known as Itim na Ginto (Black Gold). This secret has been passed on among the descendants of two groups of Filipinos – the KKK (Kapatirang Kumakalinga ng Kayamanan), who wants to protect the treasures, and the Sudama, the group who has selfish intentions in finding the treasures. Coming from the lineage of the KKK, Gabriela (Angel Locsin) is an iron-willed young lass who was well-trained in the field of combat for an all-important task of carrying on the mission of her ancestors. Since the Sudama have begun an aggressive pursuit of the hidden treasures, even obliterating KKK members who got in the way of their quest, the KKK needs to get ahead to be able to protect the treasures. In an unlikely turn of events, Gabriela’s path will cross with the wisecracking auto-mechanic-cum-stuntman Elias (Robin Padilla) who will be her companion in her special mission. Together, they will travel in different parts of Asia in search of the 10 powerful amulets and the clues leading to where the 10 Datus hid their Asian Treasures. As they face peril after peril in their Asian adventures, Elias and Gabriela will find something more precious than the treasures they are after – for they will soon realize that love has the ultimate power to turn their lives around.

It also automatically syncs all your contacts from a PC, Mac, or Internet service. And it lets you select and listen to voicemail messages in whatever order you want — just like email.

Receiving and making a call

With iPhone, making a call is as simple as touching a name or number. In addition, you can easily construct a favorites list for your most frequently made calls, and quickly merge calls together to create conference calls.

As an Internet device

iPhone features a rich HTML email client and Safari — the most advanced web browser ever on a portable device — which automatically syncs bookmarks from your PC or Mac. Safari also includes built-in Google and Yahoo! search. iPhone is fully multi-tasking, so you can read a web page while downloading your email in the background over Wi-Fi or EDGE.

Safari Web Browser

With its advanced Safari browser, iPhone lets you see any web page the way it was designed to be seen, then easily zoom in by simply tapping on the multi-touch display with your finger.

High Technology

Multi-touch

iPhone features the most revolutionary user interface since the mouse. It’s an entirely new interface based on a large multi-touch display and innovative new software that lets you control everything using only your fingers. So you can glide through albums with Cover Flow, flip through photos and email them with a touch, or zoom in and out on a section of a web page — all by simply using iPhone’s multi-touch display.

Intelligent Keyboard

iPhone’s full QWERTY soft keyboard lets you easily send and receive SMS messages in multiple sessions. And the keyboard is predictive, so it prevents and corrects mistakes, making it easier and more efficient to use than the small plastic keyboards on many smartphones.

Princess Hours

January 9th, 2007 by jarenriquez

It’s been a couple of weeks since I started to watched the new Koreanovela of ABS-CBN called Princess Hours. It is very enjoying to watch beacause of the colorful and romantic struggle of a prince and a pauper set in Korea. I was able to get in in the mood of the show because of it’s youthful themes and its fairy tale content. I liked Prince Troy in the previous episodes because he looks like a helpless prince trying to get what he should deserve as part of the first line in the kingship until it stop when his father died. Prince Gian, on the other hand, is a typical “snob yet lovable” prince who is starting to like and to love Janelle, the pauper in the story. Meanwhile, Janelle, a typical school girl was meant to marry the prince by somewhat agreement between Prince Gian’s grandfather and Janelle’s grandfather in their younger years. Janelle was the big change in Gian’s boring former world. Monique was then the former love of Gian way back when Janelle met him. Believing that she was secured to Gian’s love, Monique disapprove Gian’s proposal in marrying her because she [Monique] wanted to concentrate more on her career. But realized later that she was so fool enough to let go of Gian’s love.

Princess Hours is a fairy tale. A fairy tale in the modernized world. A Korean drama that really touched the way i percieve love and meeting that someone. It’s really a sure hit in the Philippines, right now!
